Power alert: City Power urges customers to conserve electricity amid system constraints
In light of ongoing power system constraints and potential weather disruptions, City Power calls on residents to reduce electricity usage as they face a backlog of service requests.

City Power issued an urgent warning this morning at 07:55 regarding the current strain on the electrical system. With 439 open service calls and 29 plants out of service, the utility company is appealing to customers to decrease their electricity consumption to help prevent further overloads.
Officials have noted that the power system is constrained, which poses a risk of outages. “We urge everyone to be mindful of their electricity usage during this time,” said a City Power representative. “Conservation measures can play a critical role in ensuring the stability of the power grid.”

Moreover, City Power has cautioned that the potential for inclement weather may impact response times to any outages that occur. “Repairs and restorations may be delayed due to adverse weather conditions,” the representative added.
Residents are encouraged to turn off non-essential appliances and limit power usage until the situation improves. City Power remains committed to addressing the outstanding service calls and restoring service as promptly as possible, while also prioritising the safety and reliability of the power system.
