So what do you think is going on? It's not getting any better, it's getting worse. We can't even have civil conversations anymore... A few bad apples are causing havoc in our lives. We can't even take a plane flight without being practically stripped searched. We can't allow our children to get off the school bus unless we are right there to pick them up. We are becoming prisoners in our own country... what gives?

@ Rixer, as for Mr Smith being the one of the biggest flamers on here, Mr Smith never attacks anyone. He merely tries to enlighten. Mr Smith is concerned for all American families. If you do not like me warning gullible people about the leftist communist socialists, well that is unfortunate. He'll never stop raising awareness of evil. History speaks for itself. As for California, the state appears to be heading headlong into lawlessness and chaos. You may think sanctuary cities and counties are good, they are not. Civilized people do not purposely break the laws of their land. Civilized people respect the law enforcement officers. Until you people wake up and see the truth, don't blame others for knocking the UCSR of California. Look at the cesspool the once great city of San Fransisco has become. It's really heartbreaking.

      Chickens coming home to roost!(??)
The narratives of the past are being questioned and challenged as quantitative demographics have allowed for a louder platform for those who formerly didn't have a voice in the discussion, and qualitative metrics show a skewed equity for the engagement in different venues. With the acceleration ('The Quickening') of communication fueling these contentious dynamics.
We do live in a world-wide village in which indifference to others plights need a good samaritan response, which moderates and regulates optimizing one's material advantage or leverage in the face of 'Village dysfunctions'..

Do you notice how the liberals always attack dissenting voices with personal viciousness? If they promoted freedom and fairness for all Mr Smith might understand their attacks, but they only favor lack of freedoms and more control by communist/socialist governments. If they only lived a year in North Korea, they just might change their tune.

As long as both sides are willing to compromise and not be all "My way...or the highway!" what Hank suggests in the above song is certainly appropriate, @Mr Smith 36. :)

However, as long as liberals continue being little dictators and try to ram their views down everybody's throats and try to make everyone walk in lockstep to their dogmas there's another Hank song that's more appropriate. ;)

    Rixer,
I will agree that people have been a little rough on California. Part of it is because we have lived in other places where there was the same problems that California has but the people decided to make a difference.
I will use Mississippi as an example. We have a few hurricanes come through our state. We always rebuild. You do not hear about people demanding that the government do something. We just do it ourselves. Just recently we had a hurricane come through. Did you hear anyone from Mississippi complaining about the lack of help? The hurricane came through one day and before the end of the next day the people had the electricity back on to every single home.

In Mississippi it rains pretty often. During the summer it gets hot and sometimes it gets dry. We have quite a few fires. Our leaders put a fire ban in place. No outside burning for any reason, not even grilling. If you are caught with an open flame you go to jail immediately. Most of our fires come from people on the highway throwing cigarettes out. Our fire departments and volunteers stop them quickly. We do controlled burns every year.

Much of Mississippi is a flood zone. We have earth quakes. We have something here called Yazoo clay. It moves around and changes size according to the amount of rain. Makes it nearly impossible to build something on a permanent foundation, even a highway. We have learned how to handle it.

Maybe you can understand that people in other areas have the same problems as California but somehow figure out how to handle them. We do not have the great fires as we stop them before they happen. We do not have mud slides because we do not let the fires burn out of control making mud slides possible. We do not have as much problems with illegals as we actually arrest people who commit crimes and do not let them go with a hand full of cash and an apology for arresting them.

People in California could learn a lot from people in other states.

Great! I'm glad you figured out how to solve crime in Jackson and dig yourselves out of the classification of being the most poverty stricken state in the union. Oh wait, you didn't..

You would fare better to follow in our footsteps, at least you might be able to sell a home for more than $100...;)

That is Jackson. The democrats ruined it as soon as they got in power. 20 years ago Jackson was a thriving city where people enjoyed living there.
Democrats took over and it all went to hell. It is sort of like California. The rest of the state of Mississippi is doing alright.

Is your health alright? You seem to be bitter now days. Maybe you need a vacation. Go visit Texas. They will get you back to your old self in no time.

Oh yeah, right. Years ago a friend moved from Santa Cruz to Mississippi to make furniture with his uncle. It was destitute back there he couldn't wait to get back. He lost everything, it was a bad move. It's always been a pauper state.

Btw, my health is just fine. I have medical marijuana ;) but you're right about one thing. I need another vacation, you guys are harshing my mello.. Just not Texas. lol I'll be sailing to Hawaii round trip from San Francisco in a few weeks.

There will be no quick fix for it whatever "IT" is ...

One thing that disturbed me was watching a report where a passenger on a plane was stopped from singing the national anthem for a fallen soldier that was being transported on their flight ... the airline has since apologized.

Delta Passenger Says She Was Stopped From Singing National Anthem for Fallen Soldier
A Delta flight attendant prevented a Georgia doctor from singing the national anthem in honor of a fallen soldier whose body was being carried on the flight, according to a video by the doctor that has been making the rounds on Facebook.

Delta Air Lines said in a statement sent to The Times on Tuesday that it had contacted the passenger and was looking into what happened. The airline said it did not have a policy regarding the singing of the national anthem on its planes.

The passenger, Dr. Pamela Gaudry, an obstetrician from Savannah, Ga., made the video directly after the flight landed in Atlanta, saying she hoped that it would attract attention and even reach President Trump.

Dr. Gaudry, who said she was the wife of a Navy captain who died in the line of duty, said in the video that not singing was “the most uncourageous thing” she had done in her life.

“I’m humiliated by my lack of courage to sing the national anthem in my own country, on American soil, with a deceased soldier on the plane,” she said in the video.

But the doctor did receive her second wish, as the video was viewed more than a million times on Facebook and picked up by news outlets around the country. Dr. Gaudry did not immediately return phone messages requesting an interview Tuesday morning.

The attention her video received underscored the ongoing controversy around the national anthem following Mr. Trump’s repeated criticism of N.F.L. players who have knelt during performances to call attention to police violence against black people.

In response to questions about the doctor’s video, the airline said that a Delta honor guard, a group of employees, many of whom are veterans, volunteer to greet every plane that carries a fallen soldier at the airport in Atlanta, as well as those in Salt Lake City, Los Angeles and Washington.

“The ceremony is somber and dignified,” said a Delta blog post from 2016, describing the tribute. “The coffin is pulled from the aircraft, while flags from all five military branches are displayed behind a military escort.”

Dr. Gaudry said that the plane’s captain had announced that the flight from Philadelphia was carrying a fallen soldier, Army Staff Sgt. Dustin M. Wright, 29, who was one of three soldiers killed in an ambush in Niger earlier this month. A fourth soldier was later found dead.

The captain asked that the other passengers remain seated while the coffin, which had been accompanied by another soldier on the flight, was taken off the plane by an honor guard.

Dr. Gaudry said that she had been inspired to sing “The Star-Spangled Banner” as the soldier left the plane and the coffin was carried out. She asked other passengers to do the same, and some agreed, she said.

As the plane started to descend, she said on the video that a flight attendant told her that it was against company policy to proceed with the singing.

A second announcement was made, asking that passengers be quiet as the soldier left the plane to accompany the coffin, Dr. Gaudry said. The announcement did not mention that singing the national anthem was against company policy.

“We all sat in silence as the honor guard took the soldier off the plane,” Dr. Gaudry said.

Dr. Gaudry told Fox News that Delta had called her to apologize and that Sergeant Wright’s family had also called, to thank her.

    Rixer,
If he moved to Mississippi to make furniture he should have done a little research first. There is one of the largest furniture manufacturing plant in the U.S. already here and it produces furniture for many different brands. All other furniture manufactures lost out in the Clinton administration. A little research could have saved him from loosing everything.
Mississippi has always been a poor state. Just not much here to work with and the education system is the absolute worst in the U.S. We have in the last few years seen several auto manufactures move into the state and the largest tire manufacture in the states has broken ground for a plant.

The state being in the shape it is in is the reason I moved her and continue to live here. The only other place I would live is in Texas.
In Mississippi if you can read and write you can always find a fairly good job. The cost of living is low. The weather is great. The people leave a lot to be desired.

Have fun on your vacation and I hope when you return you are more like your old self. I miss him.

A state that has the highest poverty level and the worst education system in the nation wouldn't meet my parameters for a good place to locate but to each his own. I'm just saying you all have enough of your own problems to take care of without worrying about California. Besides, out of state complainers have no say anyhow.

Thanks, I hope to have a good time. I've been to the Islands many times on land vacations but this will be the first cruise there and back. Well as long as you don't count the time I sailed there in the Navy. The service on that ship was terrible compared to Princess!

But I'll still be here to kick around for a couple of weeks.
