You are a man after my own heart.....but one word of advice....change the stock on the AK or MAK to a fiberglass unbreakable....it will pay you dividends the wood can and does split on the butt end of the weapon.....bought mine about 19 years ago....had that happen then changed it....the stock fit perfectly onto the weapon...a little lock tite on the bolts when the final turn or two is done and your ready to Rock-n-Roll.....dont want to be the asshole that walks into your home....RIGHT FUCKING ON

AR-15 is an accurate weapon and even though I was issued an M16-A1 in the beginning then an A-2 for a short period now its the A-3.....I still dont like the true dependability of the weapon....I can shoot very well myself and dont often miss my target but in the long run of the game much prefer the AK to any other weapon/rifle.....my choice for a handgun has been the M1911A1.....45 ACP with 220 grain bullet....does not have the capability of the 9mm but the knock down power is very much present....I have seen a person shot with the 9mm and they kept coming....was not a kill shot but I have also seen a person shot with the .45 and they went down eventhough it was a shoulder shot....my command gave me the choice of my side arm because of being a platoon sergeant (E-7 made E-8 right before I got out)....and having some friends in the right places....lol....and when I went out in Iraq....I carried the ever dependable AK-47 full auto and loved it...any weather....any temperature....it works EVERY time....thats how I class a weapon....dependability under ANY circumstances....

 

I agree about the 1911 I was issued that back in 79 when I was an MP and it was a great weapon, I now own a S&W 1911 45 I would not want anything else. The women were issued a snub nose 38, what a joke those are. If someone was to break in I want them down. I live in the country so we can own anything except full auto.

Right now we have a governor that is gun friendly, I used to live in NY (what a shit hole of liberal mecca that was) and if you wanted a hand gun it was like a 2 year process and then you might not get it. And look at the gun violence there, If your a criminal you can have all you want BUT law abiding never.

I also have a few Ar's and Ak's and as you said the Ak is dam near impossible to get to misfire of have anything go wrong. I have used and abused it. :excited:

 

@ BigTrobbing......my father was an MP during Korea.....then a deputy sheriff later then finally sheriff...and they had an arsenal that would make your mouth water been in it quite a few times....I went in in 1984....so you were a little ahead of me...when I went to Germany on my very first tour....we had an instructor give us a demonstration of the AK-47 capabilities....he fired 30 rounds full auto then submerged in (completely) in a 55 gallon barrel of water....talked for a few minutes...took it out...inserted another 30 round clip and fired that on full auto without ANY problems...THEN he dropped it into a 55 gallon barrel of sand, dirt, water.....talked for a few more minutes....took it out and fired another 30 round clip on full auto without ANY problems....I said right then and there...this weapon is the one for me....the very first chance I had to obtain one I purchased it....never been happier with a weapon as far as EVERYTHING is concerned....the only REAL gripe I have is the weight of the weapon with a 30 round clip in it or a drum attached that pretty much requires a bi-pod attachment...glad to speak with another veteran about something that makes sense...have a good one brother...later

I think that everyone should upon reaching their 18th birthday be given a sanity test and then issued a firearm of their choice. (they will get something stupid). and then they can get something better... and then have to take a gun safety course...
To me that seems reasonable.

Which is why a 45.90 or a .50 is the ideal firearm... because no matter where you hit someone ... they are going to lie down in agonizing pain. (that and the muzzle flash will make everyone else give up)

 

Sorry I do not get on to much. I do agree with what you say about the weight of the AK but as you stated the dam thing will fire no matter what you do. It is like the wolf ammo, back a ways I tried some in the AR and jam city, you need the polymer coating (I think it all is coated now)
I Trained in McCullian in AL and stationed in VA never went over seas, Were you an MP?? Or if your dad is still around he would remember McCullian they were the only OSUT for MPs at the time I was in.

I've been laughing my ass off about this one all day.

Its a story about a hero father fighting an armed home intruder and winning. What they are glossing over though is the first thing the father knew about the home intruder was when the intruder grabbed THE FATHER'S gun off the night stand and stuck it in his face. Then he out wrestled him for HIS OWN GUN.

They try to pass this off as win for gun ownership when obvious in this instance the father and family would have been safer without the gun in the house.

That highlights my main concern about keeping guns for personal safety, if it is not loaded and within reach it is useless, but as in this case the bad guy can always get the weapon first, not sure if there is a solution to the problem all I can say is thank fuck the guy got his gun back.

Maybe CS has an answer to the problem posed, something sensible and not his normal rhetoric of tiny minded insults, but something constructive.

 

Having a gun laying out in the open on a table or dresser is not a good idea under any circumstances.

Right now, I am less than 12 inches away from a handgun, although it is hidden and completely out of sight.
